Broadside Customs Clearance Agency commenced trading on the
1st September 2003 with the aim of providing it’s clients with a
highly professional and tailored service in the area of customs
clearance.
You only have to see the size of the Customs tariff in addition to the
many public notices to realise that the customs clearance agent bears a
heavy legal responsibility to represent their client correctly. Whilst
most entries may be run of the mill, an experienced clearance agent can
often save their client money on those that are not. Many customs
procedures can relieve the need to pay customs duty and VAT.
The shipping trade recognises the demands of the customs clearance
agent and can now offer qualifications tailored specifically for them.
I have always believed that no matter how long you have been in this
profession there is always something new to learn, so I have taken
advantage of any IT and professional courses that have come my way.
In 1996 I became the first in the UK to obtain the new NVQ in
‘International Trade and Services’ at Level 3. Having
passed BIFA’s Diploma in Customs Procedures (with Distinction) in
1998, I then moved on to achieve an NVQ in Management.
Broadside’s rates are competitive and whilst some agencies may be
cheaper I believe it’s true to say that you get what you pay for.
